The Temple is haunted by "The Hanging Judge", Sir Henry Hawkins who later became Lord Brampton.

       He is mostly seen in the private gardens. Dressed in his judicial gown and wig with a sheaf of legal papers clutched under his arm, this stern, faintly translucent chimera rushes past people late at night, looking neither left nor right and then vanishes into the inky dark of night.
